Hey fellow entrepreneurs, or moms, women, men, whoever you are! (in case you stumbled upon my blog)
I don’t want all my blog posts to be all about Pinterest. That will be very boring, at least to me it is.
I need a lil spice or pizzazz drizzled on top just like a nice meal with a superb sauce or flavor.
So this blog is all about self-care. If you’re an entrepreneur, mom, working or unemployed, stressed, depressed or struggling, or even if you're totally content (if you are.... kudos to you, what is your secret?!) what is your self-care routine?
I say routine because self-care is often the last one up to the plate and or often neglected sitting on the bench. (what is with all of my metaphors today?!). The point is, to start making it a routine. As much as we make brushing our teeth in the morning and at night a routine, self-care should be part of our daily lives.
It isn’t easy, I know firsthand. When you're taking care of other human beings whether they are younger or older, and you have other errands and tasks to complete like tackling cleaning up your home, where can you find the time? It seems like a very difficult situation to pencil this “time” in for yourself.
And to be honest, sometimes cleaning with some music on IS my self-care. I know major eye-roll and smh but sometimes I have to take what I can get! It is all about setting up the mood. To be honest, sometimes I despise cleaning and would much rather be doing anything else but there are the moments where I just clean in silence and think while I am doing this, or I put music on and just go at it.
The bottom line is, we all need a moment to ourselves to reflect, to think, to spend time with ourselves. I know my example of cleaning isn’t much but it does count as a bit of exercise with all that bending and scrubbing, it makes my home clean which makes me happy and I like to think. I am quite introverted so I need this.
I’ll post ideas for self-care. Some may be ones that I myself just started getting into!
Ideas for self-care: I am not a doctor or a medical professional. Some ideas are for you to decide if you are able to do so. Of course, speak to your medical doctor if you are not sure of some of the activities listed.
Read a book.
Reading has helped me through so many hard times. It was my go-to to escape reality rather than a negative toxic habit.
Journaling.
I used to write a lot and it was so cathartic to just put it all on a pen to paper.
Listening to music.
I listen to sad music sometimes because I find the words to move me, thinking about life and I like to cry. I know it sounds silly but before you discard me, it is good to cry! You release some of that negativity, that built-up emotion rather than at some point exploding. I also put on upbeat happy music and it does end up putting me in a better mood.
Shower
Bathe in Epsom salt
Go for a walk
Starting a new skincare regiment (this is what I started.)
I really like Mira Aguirre’s Facebook page Skincare and beauty 101 https://www.facebook.com/groups/898520304007461/for all things skincare. I am totally obsessed with getting my skin on track as I have neglected it for so long. I have fair freckled skin so I have to be extra careful with sun damage. I am excited to try red light therapy)
Exercise such as walking, yoga, pilates, squats, planks, swim, dance, etc!
Binge-watching a show (just not all the time!)
My favorites are Grey’s Anatomy, The Crown, Younger, Dr. Foster, This is Us, Billions, Sex and The City and no it never gets tiring for me! so many to choose from.
Time in nature.
So relaxing and soothing, being in nature helps to unwind.
Petting an animal (don’t pick a dangerous animal or one that can hurt)
Studies have shown that petting a dog or cat decreases blood pressure in patients and releases endorphins, the feel-good hormones!
Talking to someone.
Sometimes you have to just talk it out. Nothing wrong with this! Just make sure it is someone you trust or doesn’t gossip if your conversation is on the heavier side.
Joining a group whether on Facebook, meetup.com, a volunteer group, a community group, church group, so many are out there. I am sure a quick google and you would find something you are interested in!
Writing
Meditating
Do something out of your comfort zone.
Sometimes we let our fear or anxieties get the best of us. Try something new! Find a friend, family member, or do it alone! The novelty of it is thrilling and can boost your mood!
Speak to a professional.
Even if I weren’t a mental health professional, talking to someone who is trained and skilled will help you through whatever you are going through. Unlike friends or family, the professional will not judge you, will listen, will not offer advice but rather be empathetic, validate your feelings and offer resources if you needed. I speak to a therapist weekly and it has helped me to hear myself and what I feel I need to do without the therapist telling me. It clears your thinking and helps to sort out whatever it is your going through. We all could use a therapist!!! There should be no more stigmas with seeing a mental health practitioner!
If you need to speak to someone immediately call 911 if you are a danger to yourself or others. This is the suicide hotline 800-273-8255. You are not alone. A little fact about me is years ago I was a trained counselor for the suicide hotline where the counselors are there to talk to you, offer referrals and support.
Spend time with friends or family.
Establish new relationships/friendships.

I can go on and on. Choose something that makes you happy. As Marie Kondo says, do something that “sparks joy” even though her philosophy is about throwing away or donating stuff that doesn’t spark joy. In a sense, we need to throw away the thoughts that don’t spark joy in our minds at times. I definitely have to practice this as I tend to be a negative thinker. If it is worth it, it will take time and patience.
So take care of yourself! Make your life simpler, live and seize the moment!

I am a virtual assistant specializing in Pinterest. Pinterest is a search engine much like Google showcasing products, ideas, and creativity in a “pin” format.
The platform exposes your business to a wider audience that you may not have had access to before! I can help you set up your business account, create pins, schedule them out, manage your account or conduct an audit.
The cons of Pinterest are that it is a steady burn; you have to wait at least 3 – 6 months for significant results. However, even if you wait that long, the pin that gave you much success can live on for years after you have pinned it! With FB and IG, your post is shown maybe a few hours after then it loses its traction. So a con CAN certainly be viewed as a positive but it is just the patience factor.
Thanks for reading, I truly appreciate it.
